Digitizing the process of Project Management Certification

In course of this project for Project Management Austria – Austria’s leading project management association – we redesigned the information presentation and carried out the automation and digitization of business processes. The result was a customized software solution supporting the full life cycle of the project management certification process.

The digitization process included internal processes for handling and managing the certifications of candidate and certified project managers.

Furthermore, all processes providing interfaces to the users of the PMA community, the members, assessors and partners were fully digitized.

Platform for benchmarking search technologies

We designed, planned and developed a platform for evaluating the quality and performance of different patent search technologies for the European Patent Office. The platform offers an extensive set of metrics, which allow for a scientifically sound evaluation of these technologies.
The evaluation result informs the decision-making process when deciding for or against a particular technology. In addition to the evaluation metrics, the platform facilitates the management and administration of different test settings and provides an interface for interactive, visual analysis of evaluation runs.

The platform supports procurement in the European Patent Office for the purpose of purchasing new search technologies.

Customized data test set for testing can be easily generated and managed via the platform.

A wide range of evaluation and visualization tools, which support the creation of detailed scientific reports as well as concise management reports, has been implemented.

Visual History of the Holocaust

In this EC-funded innovation project, the potential as well as the limitations of digital technologies in the ongoing effort to preserve, analyze and communicate historical evidence of the Holocaust, and in particular, audiovisual records will be explored. The work will make use of existing and emerging technologies, including advanced digitization, automated analysis of images and text, time-based annotation and location-based services. It is a further goal of the project to establish new connections to be explored between history, film and media studies, cultural studies and computer science.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 822670.

Based on this technology-enabled research, new communication strategies will be developed for memorials, museums and educational institutions.

A consortium consisting of 12 Austrian, German, Israeli and French research institutions, museums, memorial sites and technology developers together with American partners are developing novel and groundbreaking models and applications.
